The workshop Distinction and Unifica­tion is the second annual meeting of an international network for South-Eastern studies which has been founded in 2010 in Ljubljana. It intends to intensify the in­ternational exchange of scholars and ad­vanced students from different branches – history, political sciences, art history, media studies and literature. The mem­bers of the network share a common in­terest in the diverse transnational and na­tional memory cultures in South-Eastern Europe, their interference and their rivalry.
