Summer School and Master's Degree Programs in Russian Studies

Summer School 2013 “Russian Studies in Real Russia” will be held at Ural Federal University (Ekaterinburg, Russia) from July 29 to August 16, 2013 The Summer School 2013 offers the programme: “Russian Studies in Real Russia: Russia X dimension” aimed at studying the political, cultural and economic processes in the development of contemporary Russia (lectures in English\Russian) and also the Russian language in full for different levels and in different aspects. The courses are for students of different level of the Russian language from A1 to C1.

In addition, the Summer School gives unique opportunity to visit the best places of interest both in Ekaterinburg and the Ural region, practicing Russian language in academic and informal environment.

The Summer School will be a big palette for the reproducing the genuine Russia of today: its light and dark sides, the mentality and the lifestyle of the people who live there.

The application deadline is June 1, 2013

The course fee is 20 200 roubles (apprx.500 EUR).

Upon the completion the participant will be given the UrFU certificate.

The Summer School 2013 “Russian Studies in Real Russia” is supported by DAAD, which allows German students to receive the financial support from DAAD for participating in this summer school.

Master’s Degree program in Russian Studies covers various aspects of Russia’s past and present: language, culture, political and social life. The key issues are identity, modernity and integration in the broader cultural context of Post-Soviet Eurasia, as well as intensive study of Russian language. Courses on Identity (defining Russian identity features), Modernity (Russia's place in a changing world), Integration (the architecture of the post-Soviet Space) are held in English. Plus, the essential part of the program is the Russian language course. UrFU graduates can receive a European Diploma Supplement, issued in concordance with recommendations of the Council of Europe and UNESCO.

The deadline for submitting applications for the Master's program to UrFU is August, 2013. The fall semester starts September 1, 2013.
The approximate fee for pursuing a Master’s program is about $ 3,600 per year.
