The U.S. Human Rights Agenda under the Obama Administration

Lecturer: Mr. Eric Collings, Political Officer with the U.S. Embassy in Belgrade

Eric Collings, a Political Officer with the U.S. Embassy in Belgrade, will present the main conclusions of the recently released 2009 Country Report on Human Rights in Serbia . The State Department prepares the annual Human Rights Reports at the request of the U.S. Congress as a tool for engaging with host governments and local non-governmental organizations. Mr. Collings also will offer some thoughts on the U.S. human rights agenda under the Obama administration. His portfolio at the Embassy includes human rights, religious freedom, and civil society, and he also is responsible for monitoring developments in the South Serbian municipalities of Pre š evo, Bujanovac, and Medveđa.
