CALL FOR PAPERS For

The Sixth International Interdisciplinary Symposium

ENCOUNTER OF CULTURES

to be held on

1 December 2011

 

The Sixth International Interdisciplinary Symposium Encounter of Cultures brings together scholars in the Humanities and Social Sciences for a day of intellectual debate, cultural experience and networking. It is to be held on 1 December 2011 to celebrate the Day of the Faculty of Philosophy.

We welcome the proposals from university staff and doctoral students for papers on the main topic of Encounter of Cultures. Topics might include, but are not limited to, the following areas:

◦ Interculturalism and multiculturalism
◦ State, Cultural and Political Projects of South-East European Nations
◦ General / Regional Contacts between Cultures
◦ Linguistic and Literary Contacts as Cultural Contacts
◦ Reception of Serbian Culture and Literature in Different European Regions
◦ Comparative / Contrastive Descriptions of Linguistic Influences and Interlingual Similarities / Differences
◦ Translation as the Reflection of Cultural Links
◦ Influence of Cultural Paradigms on Models of Teaching
◦ Culture and Acknowledgement
◦ Lexical Changes in the Light of Encounters of Cultures
◦ Languages in Contact
◦ Rural and Urban in Culture
◦ The Collective and the Individual
◦ Encounters of Cultures and the Media
◦ Identities

Your applications have to be sent not later than 30 September 2011 in an email addressed to susret.kultura@ff.uns.ac.rs. The applications received after the deadline will not be considered.

The full application should consist of

1. Your name and surname, affiliation, email address, phone number and the title of the paper,
2. Brief biography (up to 500 characters with spaces),
3. Abstract

Abstracts (in English and in the language of the paper) should be sent as Microsoft Office Word (.doc) attachments. The abstract should not exceed 1000 characters with spaces.

All eligible applicants will get a notice of acceptance by 1 November 2011.

The deadline for paper submission is 1 February 2012 in both printed and electronic forms. The style sheet for preparing the papers is available at http://www.ff.uns.ac.rs/fakultet/susret_kultura/2011/main_eng.htm. We accept papers in Serbian, English, German, French, Italian, Russian, Spanish, Hungarian, Romanian, Ruthenian, Slovak etc.

A selection of peer-reviewed papers will be published in the Book of Proceedings that is to be published after the Symposium. 

The Symposium participants will be charged a registration fee.
