STUDENT ASSOCIATION OF THE FACULTY OF PHILOSOPHY

The Student Association of the Faculty of Philosophy in Novi Sad (henceforth SAFPNS) is a young people’s organization which advocates for the development and the affirmation of informal education, as well as the academic, social, cultural and ecological awareness of the students at the University of Novi Sad. Since its founding in 2010, the SAFPNS has been an important part of organising students at the Faculty of Philosophy − not only to improve student standards, but also to improve the quality of life of the student population through good organisation, responsibility, a positive atmosphere and the willingness to change and improve.

The SAFPNS is a part of the Student Association of the University of Novi Sad and is comprised exclusively of students of the Faculty of Philosophy. The mission of the SAFPNS is to develop and nurture relations between the students of the Faculty and to support them in their personal and professional endeavours. This is achieved through the organisation of a wide portfolio activities and gatherings, as well as providing communication and the exchange of experience. The SAFPNS is organised in departments for the purposes of the easier distribution of work. The organisation has a president, vice-president and secretary general. The current president is Marjan Moha, the vice-president is Isidora Filipov and the secretary is Anđelija Vuletić. The department teams of the SAFPNS are as follows:

  • the department of science, education and sustainable development
  • the department of information and marketing
  • the department of international relations
  • the department of culture, entertainment and sports
  • the department of humanitarian activities

The most significant activities carried out by SAFPNS since its founding:

  1. The project WAKE UP ON TIME was carried out in 2010, 2011 and 2012. The project was related to the celebration of the World AIDS day. The goal of the project was raising awareness about the degree of risk of contracting the HIV virus, as well as other sexually transmitted diseases.
  2. The second significant project was humanitarian in character. The volunteers took part in a humanitarian action of the "Osmeh na dar" foundation, where they collected toys, sweets and school supplies for the children of Kosovo and Metohija. One volunteer and a student from the Faculty of Philosophy had the opportunity to take part in distributing the New Year gifts to children in the enclaves in the southern region of Serbia.
  3. In cooperation with the Student Association of the University of Novi Sad, the SAFPNS took part in the project DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME ON THE CAMPUS, which took place on the occasion of the celebration of the Earth Day.
  4. The project FILMOSOPHY was target towards the popularisation of philosophy as a science through film, and it was successfully carried out in 2011. FILMOSOPHY was organised and held by the students of the Faculty of Philosophy in Novi Sad, in cooperation with the students of the Faculty of Philosophy in Belgrade.
  5. The philosophical symposium TORN BODIES took place in Novi Sad, from  August 12-14, 2011. The topic of symposium related to political bodies, theoretical bodies, nationalities as bodies and the themes of bodies in culture and philosophy in general (primarily in post-structuralism and continental philosophy in general).
  6. Presenting the work of the organisation at the ROAD SIGNS education fair.
  7. The project PREVENTIVE WAVE − a gathering of creative and affirmative ways, methods, measures and initiatives with the goal of activating and engaging young people to use their ideas, potentials and capabilities in the most productive way possible.
  8. The project EKOTEKA − its primary goal is to raise ecological awareness among the residents of Novi Sad, as well as acquiring new knowledge in the areas of environmental protection, the reporting of current news and information related to ecology, and socialising and entertainment through the introduction of methods to prevent pollution. The project was comprised of the organisation of the EKOTEKA motivational weekend and the EKOKURS ecological workshops.
  9. Participating in the organisation of the round table DRUGS DON'T HAVE THE LAST WORD.
  10. Participating in the organisation of the round table TABOOS AND PREJUDICE ON SUICIDE
  11. The action BLOOOMING −designed in order to decorate the campus. Emphasis was put on benches, utility poles and trees, since those elements are the most visible to students. The decoration consisted of the following −  different coloured wool was used for wrapping the aforementioned objects, and each of them had a message of environmental, humorous or romantic character.
  12. Participation in organisation of the University Chess Tournament (2012, 2013, 2014).
  13. The project ACADEMIC BABY − a newsletter for student parents of the University of Novi Sad. The newsletter provides all of the information necessary for students who opted for parenting, and helps them in the realisation of their plans and goals related to family planning. At the end of 2014, the Academic baby portal was created, for the purposes of maintaining better and easier communication of student parents, as well as easier access to the newsletter content and information on the state of affairs at universities, free legal assistance and the Student Health Care Office in Novi Sad.
